What is the best life changing picture you saw today?

I can't answer about today but the best life changing picture was this. A few years ago as I was leaving a doctor's appointment, there was a 4 story parking ramp with an elevator and a staircase to each level. When I entered the entry door to both there were two men waiting for the elevator.

Seconds later an amputee came in with two crutches and immediately started taking the stairs. One of the men waiting for the elevator feeling sorry for the guy said “Hey man why don't you just take the elevator?” Halfway up the first flight the amputee turns around and says “Use them while you got them.” And continues up the stairs. We all three stared up and down each other in silence as no words were even necessary. So we all took the stairs. And do you know that amputee put us to shame as we wheezed huffed and puffed hanging on to the handrail struggling to make it up as he continued to outpace us?

I joined them because I didn't feel like it or should I say was too lazy to take the stairs.

We take for granted what we have or are given and don't appreciate it until it's gone. I still see so many people in parking lots and streets waiting endlessly for a spot close to the entry of a store or building. Sometimes wanting to get into an altercation over one.People with disabilities aren't seeking pity. But courtesy is another thing. So the next time you or anyone thinks about mindlessly hogging a handicap parking spot blocking a doorway or any other rude act, think about what I experienced and give thanks that you can use them while you have them
